Halibut breeding and egg production requires demanding biological research in order to ensure high-quality fish. This work is done at the company's facility at Midsund, an island community off the town of Molde.

JUVENILE PRODUCTION - ASKØY

After hatching, halibut appears very similar to other fish. Gradually, however, it begins its biological metamorphosis into flatfish. This occurs under carefully controlled environmental parameters at Norsk Kveite's facility for juvenile halibut.

ONGROWING IN TANKS - AVERØY

Juvenile halibut receive good care in the tanks of Halibut's land-based facility on Averøya. The fish is transported from here when it achieves a weight of about half a kilo.

ONGROWING IN CAGES - EIDE

Video monitoring in the cages enables our aquaculture specialists to learn under which environmental conditions halibut thrive. This knowledge is used to ensure healthy development and good growth for the fish.

COMPANY

Nordic Seafarms was established in 1995 and has gradually grown to become one of the world's leading players in the farming of Atlantic halibut (Hippoglossus hippoglossus). In 2015, Nordic Seafarms changed name to their brand name Nordic Halibut.

Nordic Halibut controls every phase of production, from breeding to adult fish. This is organised through its subsidiaries avd Midsund, avd Askøy, avd Averøy and avd Eide. The head office and sales division are situated in Bergen and Averøy, and from here the company sells its renowned brand Nordic Halibut to the domestic market as well as quality-conscious markets abroad.
